Arrival
Arrived in John Kennedy International Airport in the noon of Sept 7, 2005.
Not really excited before I have check in through the custom.
In fact, I was afraid I would be denied for entry after 22 hours flight all the way from Malaysia to US via London. Thanks God! Everything is fine! And I am now standing outside the airport waiting for the hotel to pick me up!
While Annie and I walk out from the custom with our huge luggages, a black lady shouted to us: “Au pairs, this way!” and she walk very fast towards another side of the gate. After a few minutes walk and train, we stood in front of the Exit and I start chatting with her while waiting for the hotel driver. She is so friendly! The first American, the first black lady I met in US!
In about 15 minutes later, a huge black Mercedes Benzes stop in front of us. “lady, get in to the car, leave all the bags to him.” the lady said loudly.
Wao! such a big car! and both of us have special treatment coincidently (most au pairs are taken by bus). Feels good!
The hotel is not bad, clean and tidy. Two double bed and a single bed. I am the first who came to my room so I have a double bed. Haha..!
Oh bed! I need you so much now!
After a shower and an afternoon nap, I had my first American dinner in the hotel restaurant.
No great meals but it's fine! We can't wait to finish and walked to the library to access internet.
huh! I forgot that the traffic rules is different from my country... cars come from my left but I look at the right!! em..adjust my brain quickily... be careful! always look at the left and right and left!
Yahooo! That's my first day in America!
